A versatile actress and producer Manju Singh passed away due to cardiac arrest, in Mumbai on Thursday 14-04-2022. She was born in 1948 and died at the age of 74. She gained immense popularity as a TV Anchor in the children’s show named “Khel Khilone”, which she did seven consecutive seasons and became our forever “didi”. After this, her first big-screen presence was in the Hrishikesh Mukherjee film Golmal in 1979. She also worked in other movies like Hanky Panky in the same year, Ladies Tailor in the year 1981 and Screen Two in 1985.
Being a TV Anchor and an actress, she also became a dynamic producer. Her first masterstroke was in the year 1983 as a producer in the Indian Television named Show Theme. After its huge success, she produced meaningful content and lime lighted the different issues and problems faced by the women and also society as a whole. She was known to be one of the leading producers of that time. Her other famous works are Ek Kahani, Swaraj, and Adhikar.
In the year 2007, she laid the foundations of The WorldKids Foundation, with the mission of “Entertainment with a Purpose”. This foundation arranges a yearly global children’s film festival, in which they extend the educational films to the classrooms. Considering her remarkable contribution to creative, and arts, Tv, films as a whole. The government recommended her as a member of the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) in the year 2015.
Maybe today she has left for her heavenly journey, but her footprints will always be there with us. Our very own “Didi”.
