Technology, technology, and technology, this is the success mantra of one of the leading business tycoons of today’s generation, any guesses? Well, he is none other than Mr. Peyush Bansal the Co-Founder and CEO of Lenskart. Born on 26th April 1985 in New Delhi, India, schooling at Don Bosco School Delhi. He appeared for IIT JEE but could not crack it, so went to McGill University in Canada, and completed his graduation in the Electrical – IT, Control and Automation from the year 2002 to 2006. Later on, he started working in Microsoft. Today, Peyush Bansal’s net worth is around 600 cores.
Worked In Microsoft for just a Year !
During his working tenure, he was invited to Bill Gates’ house, where he met him and that became the actual turning point of his life. He came to know that 50,000 employees work in Microsoft and he didn’t want to be one of 50,000, he wanted to stand out of the group. A thought that just ran through his mind at that time as he states, that Bill Gates has really done something very big in his life and he cannot imagine his own life without Microsoft Excel. It dawned upon him that he is doing something better for those people whose lives are already in a better position. That thought turned his life around, eventually he left his job and came back to India.
When Lenskart came into being !
Around 40 crore people in India need spectacles to be worn for a better vision. People can improve their productivity by 30% just by correcting their vision. A child’s 80% learning depends on the correct eyesight, 1 out of 3 children in India needs to wear spectacles. The awareness regarding this in India is very less and also the affordability is a concern too. Keeping this mission of eye vision correction in India in mind, Peyush started Lenskart in 2009.
Lenskart conducted rural campaigns, where it provided free eye tests to the poor and needy people and raise awareness amongst them. It is Peyush’s dream to take Lenskart to the level at par of Maruti in India. They way Maruti has made such affordable cars that every Indian can dream of it, he wishes to bring the same kind of transformation in the eyewear section as well. It his belief to be customer-centric and solve bigger problems, business and success eventually follows him.
Peyush as one of the Sharks in Shark Tank India 2022 !
Peyush Bansal was recently seen as one of the Judges and the Sharks of the famous reality show – Shark Tank India which was aired on Sony Entertainment Channel. He made good number of investments on the new ideas/projects of the budding entrepreneurs. His agenda was to invest in purpose-driven business, the people who are solving some big real times problems being faced by Indian in everyday lives.
He also acquired few of the best deals of the season – ISAK Fragrances, Lucknow. A fragrance house dedicated to the creation of unrivalled niche Indian artisanal fragrances, backed with family experience of over a century and a half. Peyush made an investment of Rs. 50 Lakhs and took 50% equity of that company. The next investment was on the product of Kamlesh Nanasaheb Ghumare, who calls himself ‘Jugaadu Kamlesh’ from Malegaon, Maharashtra. His product was a pesticide spray solution in the form of a trolley, which can make a farmer’s life easy and save them from many physical disabilities. Last but not the least, another steal deal of the season which he acquired was with SID007, from Jammu. Siddharth Gupta, a budding entrepreneur was backed up by Peyush, he acquired 75% equity in his company and funded him with Rs. 25 Lakhs.
