Rabindra Jayanti is one of the most iconic and cultural occasions for the lovers of Rabindra Nath Tagore and his works. It is the birth anniversary of the Legend Rabindranath Tagore, which is celebrated in the early May, on the 25th day of the Bengali month of Boishak(২৫শে বৈশাখ), since Tagore was born on this day of the year 1268 (1861 AD) (২৫শে বৈশাখ, ১২৬৮) of the Bengali Calendar.
This particular day is dedicated to the Legend and his exceptional works. His pure contribution to literature, his artworks, Rabindra Sangeet, and his poems each piece is magnificent and beyond words to express. Multiple schools, colleges, and universities across the state of West Bengal celebrate this day by holding different cultural events and showing his artworks to the students, and kind of paying a tribute to the legend and also spreading and educating the students about his works and contribution to the field of art, culture, and literature. As Rabindra Jayanti is not only famous in the state of West Bengal, but it’s a global celebration. It is celebrated in the largest form at Shantiniketan, Birbhum in West Bengal in Visva-Bharati University, as he was the founder of this institution himself. On his 150th birth anniversary which was in 2011, The Government of India issued a 5-rupee coin as an honorable gesture and a tribute to the legend.
Rabindranath Tagore has been honored with multiple awards on multiple platforms, but his masterstroke, the book Gitanjali for which he has been awarded the Noble Prize in English Literature.
