On the occasion of World Kidney Day, let’s pledge to keep our kidneys healthy by eating healthy, drinking clean water and fruit juices, keeping our sugar levels and blood pressure in check, exercising regularly, avoiding junk food and sedentary lifestyle, keeping restrooms/toilets clean, maintaining healthy sanitary habits and getting a health checkup once in a while.

What is the Importance of Kidney in our Lives ?
KIDNEYS are part of our Renal System, functional unit of kidney is called Nephron. Basic functions of kidneys are – maintaining volume and composition of body fluids and maintaining acid – base balance, excretion of metabolic end products (ammonia, urea and creatinine, uric acids), drugs and toxins. The ENDOCRINE Functions are – production of erythropoietin which is important for RBC production, Vit D Metabolism and secretion of renin which helps in maintaining Blood Pressure.
