International Women’s Day is celebrated each year on 8th March. Today, this significant day has arrived and the theme of this year Women’s Day is “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow,” #Break the Bias
History
The very first International Women’s Day was celebrated in the United States on 28th February 1909 in form of a victory of women’s strike against the garment industry, in which women protested against the harsh working conditions. Post to this event several events followed back in near to similar dates. In 1945 Charter of the United Nations became the first international agreement to declare equal rights for both men and women both which was officially on 8th March. Later in 1977, the General Assembly acquire a decision that a day in a year will be celebrated as a Women’s rights and a day dedicated to all the Women of the globe., and it was declared as an International Women’s Day on the 8th March of every year.
Significance
As per UNESCO, the contribution, importance, need of women in developing countries like India is generally overlooked. To highlight the changes, to celebrate the triumph, and to give a loud shout out to all the important ladies across the globe this special day is dedicated specially for them. To bring gender equality to look and feel the society more modern, than it is actually.
The Theme of Women’s Day 2022
The United Nation’s theme for this “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow,” #Break the Bias. In the acceptance and celebration of women, and their numerous contributions to this growing world, and also taking the charge of the changing environment.
