Namita Thapar is the Queen of the Pharma Industry. Born on 21st March 1977 in Pune, Maharashtra, India, in a traditional Gujarati family. She pursued Chartered Accountancy from ICAI and became a successful Chartered Accountant at the age of just 21 years, post that she completed her MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, USA. Her net worth is around Rs.600 crores.
Namita’s and Emcure Pharmaceuticals –
Post her MBA she worked in two different companies in Silicon Valley, USA and after gaining the corporate experience, she came back to India and joined Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Maharashtra-based Indian multinational company, manufacturing tablets, capsules, and injectables, as a Chief Financial Officer, and after working there for ten years, she is now the CEO of Emcure Pharmaceuticals. The company’s turnover is around 6,000 million rupees, it has its presence in 70 countries and employee strength is of around 10,000 people.
Corporate Social Responsibilities –
Namita is one of the board members in the regional advisory board of Fuqua School of Business. She is also a Trustee in the TiE Mumbai Board of Trustees. She and her husband both of them together organize a basketball tournament once a year in Pune. She is also a Speaker in several prestigious Institutions like Harvard Business School, IIM A, the ET Conference, FICCI, and many more. She encourages young entrepreneurs and has also developed platforms like Incredible Ventures Ltd., an education platform where they educate children regarding entrepreneurship from the 11 to 18 years age group. This academy has their presence in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.
Namita as one of the Sharks in Shark Tank India 2022 !
As one of the leading successful women entrepreneurs of India she was invited by Sony Entertainment in their reality show Shark Tank India as one the strongest Sharks. In that, she invested around 6.383 crores and made 22 deals in the show. Her main indulgence was in women entrepreneurs. She did a problem-solving deal with the company Menstrupedia in which they will educate young girls and women of India regarding the myths of the periods that we have in our country. Another deal was with company – Farda who wants be the number one streetwear brand in India and Aman Gupta (Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of boAt) also joined in the deal with her. Lastly, she also supported another women entrepreneur Auli Lifestyle, gave her an investment of Rs. 75 Lakhs and took 15% of the equity in the company.
Message to the Budding Entrepreneurs –
“Think big, dream big, and be a problem solver, check the society and see what necessary changes are needed, work on it day and night with full passion, and then success will automatically follow you, and you will become the UNICORN of the country. The biggest quality of a true entrepreneur should be to see dreams focus on them, failures will come, don’t get disheartened or leave it in between, just be into it, and finally YOU WILL SUCCEED”.
