In today’s world, technology development and entrepreneurial spirits have fueled the growth of our nation. India has now become a hub for start-ups over the recent years. Celebrating this spirit of entrepreneurship, a revolutionary reality show became a part of household conversations when Sony Entertainment Channel started telecasting a new show – Shark Tank India on its prime time 9pm slot on weekdays. The show streamed on Indian Televisions from 20th December 2021 till 4th February 2022 with a total of 35 episodes. It had seven ‘Sharks’ – all successful Entrepreneurs and Titans of the industry, judging the aspiring entrepreneurs and their business pitches, and deciding it’s potential for further investment. - Ashneer Grover – Managing Director and Co-Founder of Bharat Pe
- Peyush Bansal – Co-Founder and CEO of LensKart
- Namita Thapar – Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals
- Ghazal Alagh – Co-Founder and CIO of MamaEarth
- Vineeta Singh – CEO and Co-Founder of SUGAR Cosmetics
- Aman Gupta – Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of boAt
- Anupam Mittal – Founder and CEO of People Group and Shaadi.com
With a total of 62,000 entries in the show, 198 successful business ideas got a chance to present their pitch in front of the Sharks. 67 successful business pitches got the final deals from the Sharks. Total money invested from all the seven sharks was over 390 million. The show was hosted by Rannvijay Singha.
Entrepreneurs on this show not only participated from the urban cities but was also seen in huge numbers from the small town and villages too. The zeal to prove themselves to be the best and their effort to crack the finest deals from the sharks made this show all the more interesting for the audiences. The incredible success of this show left an indelible mark on the society and made way for the Indian Entrepreneurs to be known and appreciated across the globe, projecting the – “Badalte Bharat ki Nayi Tasveer.”
The Shark Tank India Show had upGrad, Acko General Insurance, Black Dog Drinking Soda as the ‘Co-Presenting’ Sponsors, Cashfree Payments as ‘Payments’ Partner, Flipkart as ‘Digital’ Partner and Dell Technologies as ‘Technology’ Partner.
The Pitch of the Season was given to a young entrepreneur – Kamlesh Nanasaheb Ghumare, who calls himself ‘Jugaadu Kamlesh’ from Malegaon, Maharashtra. His product was a pesticide spray solution in the form of a trolley, which can make a farmer’s life easy and save them from many physical disabilities.
