Breast Cancer is an unchecked extension of abnormal cells in the breast. It is generally found in a form of a lump in the affected area. Breast Cancer generally originates in the milk ducts in the breast. If it starts spreading it can easily affect the other body parts too. Both men and women can be affected by Breast Cancer, but it is very common among women. It is common for the age group between 50 to 65 years of age. But that does not mean that younger women are safe they are at the same level of risk of developing it.
Early Symptoms of Breast Cancer.
• A painless lump in the breast.
• Nipple inversion.
• Nipple discharge.
• Lump in the armpit.
Advance stages symptoms.
• Swelling of the entire breast.
• A non-healing wound over the breast.
• Orange peel appearance on the breast skin.
• Redness of breast skin.
• Pain in the breast.
The last stage symptoms are.
• Bone pains (backache).
• Jaundice.
• Breathing difficulties.
Detection of the disease at an early stage.
Mammography is the initial screening step for breast cancer detection. The test and the duration of the screening should always be as per the advice of the medical expert.
Age group between 35 years to 44 years; yearly mammography (as per medical expert).
Age group between 45 years to 60 years; yearly mammography (as per medical expert).
Above 60 years: yearly or bi-yearly (as per medical expert).
A regular health check-up and a regular scanning can always help in the early detection of the disease and can help to fight it back with all the possible resources available. The survival rate and a back to normal life success ratio is always been more than 95%.
Prevention of Breast Cancer.
Breast cancer can be prevented with a proper healthy lifestyle, quit smoking, quit alcohol or very limited drinking habit, proper weight to be managed, and exercising regularly, breastfeeding your child. These small tips can reduce the risk of the disease. Do not forget to have the genetic history involved in it, in case there is a genetic history, do make sure to share this with your doctor and take steps as advised by him/her.
