John Paul, the popular screenwriter in Malayalam cinema passed away on Saturday 23rd April 2022. He was born on 29th October 1950 and took his last breath on Saturday, at the private hospital in Kochi. As per the reports, he was undergoing treatment for the last two months. His health condition was going towards the negative graph day-by-day, and on Saturday, he left for his heavenly journey. He died at the age of 71 years.
Beginning of His Career
He started his career journey as a freelance journalist. Initially, he used to write screenplays for short movies and ads shorts. Then in 1972, he started his first job at Canara Bank and worked there for a decade. In the year 1983, he left his job and concentrated fully on movies.
He gained immense popularity for his writings in the 1980s to early 1990s. John Paul has successfully written almost 100 films.
His popular works in the films are Chamaram, Yathra, and Vida Parayum Munbe among others. He has always worked for famous directors like Bharathan, Sathyan Anthikkad, and Joshiy. Some of this popular films are, Chamaram, Marmaram, Ormakkai, Palangal, Sandhya Mayangum Neram, Oru Minnaminunginte Nurunguvettam, Neela Kurinji Poothapol, Keli, Malooty and Chamayam. The last script authored by him was Pranayameenukalude Kadal directed by Kamal.
MACTA is a (Malayalam Cinema Technicians Association), an association for film technicians, he was holding the post of a founder general secretary in it. In the year 2017, he also acted in the film C/O Sairabanu with Manju Warrier. He acted in the role of Gangster in the movie opposite Mammootty.
