A day and a night dedicated to all the book lovers. World Book Night is celebrated every 23rd of April. 23rd April is also known as the UNESCO World Book Day for children while the night is dedicated for the adults to enjoy.
History of World Book Night
This book lover day was first commenced in the year 2011 in the United Kingdom and Ireland. This unique idea is the masterstroke of Jamie Byng. MD of Canongate. This thought was discussed by him at the Book Industry Conference. The idea was a huge success in its first phase of 10 years. This became a big reason for celebration in the year 2012 and 2013 in The United States, many book lovers present each other with books on this particular day.
This special day also became a part of the Reading Agency in the year 2013. This organization motivates people to read more books. Every year they distribute books in hospitals, prisons, libraries, homeless shelters, etc.
The idea of gifting books to each other, and distributing books, has also helped the book stores to increase their sales. The only goal of the mission is to make people read books and increase their knowledge as much as possible. Because proper knowledge and education is the major key to the success of an economy as a whole. “Padhge India Tabhi Toh Aage Barega India”.
